Media News : ‘The Talk’: Why Did Marie Osmond Depart From The Daytime TV Show? .

Now that The Talk has been on the air for more than a decade, the roster of co-hosts past and present includes several of the biggest names in television, music, and other entertainment. One of its more recent hosts, Marie Osmond, surprised everyone when she left the show after just one year. Her reasons why, however, were perfectly sound.

Marie Osmond was famous before ‘The Talk’

According to Biography.com, Marie Osmond was born in 1959, just before her Donny Osmond and the rest of her famous siblings burst into the music scene with their catchy pop tunes. While Marie Osmond took some time to reach the spotlight that her brothers found at an early age, she became bigger than them all once she got there. With eight brothers and sisters, Marie Osmond and the rest of the family took the music scene by storm.

However, Marie Osmond and her brother, Donny Osmond, were the breakout stars. Their collaborations together made them a national phenomenon. To this day, the siblings are a constant on the Las Vegas scene and similar venues around the world. However, while their music helped shape them into the stars they are today, it only tells part of the story.

Donny Osmond and Marie Osmond took their act to the biggest stage, and it paid off substantially. The pair briefly hosted a talk show in the early nineties and saw a brief resurgence after their separate appearances on the wildly successful Dancing With the Stars. Now, Marie Osmond remains as big as ever. From endorsement deals to television appearances across the world, her star has never entirely faded.

As such, when The Talk needed a new host, she was the perfect, calming presence during what would prove to be a tumultuous moment.

Marie gets in on ‘The Talk’

Whether singing on the stage or performing at a Vegas act, Marie Osmond has always stood out as one of the most candid entertainment stars. The makers of The Talk spoke about this when she joined the cast in 2019. Marie Osmond, who guest-hosted the series several times throughout its first decade, provided a grounded, accessible voice to the eclectic and opinionated panel.

“Marie’s impressive career accomplishments have endeared her to fans throughout the decades. Her willingness to be authentic and share personal triumphs and struggles with honesty in the hopes of helping others always resonates. I’m excited to kick off Season 10 with the multitalented, dynamic Marie at The Talk table,” CBS executive Angelica McDaniel said about the move.

For the next year, Marie Osmond served as the voice of reason as Sharon Osbourne, and the rest of the cast fought, bickered, and interviewed their famous guests. However, Osmond Osmond’s tenure didn’t last long.

In September 2020, Marie Osmond shocked fans of the series when she announced her departure. However, it wasn’t due to drama with her co-stars nor any feud with network executives. For the first time in nearly 40 years, Marie Osmond found herself an empty-nester. As such, she just wanted to spend some time with her husband.

“One of the highlights of my year at The Talk was working with my dear friend John Redmann, and I’m excited to continue our working relationship on several projects we are developing. Also, my husband and I just dropped our last two kids off at college, we looked at each other, laughed and remembered we hadn’t been this alone together since 1982!!” she told Deadline.

Whether this paves the way to more musical endeavors or starts a quiet retirement for the songstress, Marie Osmond has consistently found ways to remain relevant as the world changes around her. Her time on The Talk may have been brief, but the positivity she’s conveyed throughout her life remains on full display regardless of what she does.
